Heel Pain

Are your first steps in the morning causing you heel pain?

Do your feet hurt when you get out of the chair at the end of the day?

Or even worse, are your heels hurting all day long?

Heel pain is a common problem we treat at Feetology Podiatry Centre. Many of our patients report that they have pain in the heel on rising in the morning, or after getting up from sitting at the end of the day. This pain often is ignored and can progress to become painful for longer periods through the day. This is when it can start to make life really uncomfortable. The pain can get to a point where people are no longer able to exercise, play with their children or even begin to interfere with their work.

There are a few different conditions that lead to heel pain. In adults, the most common cause is plantar fasciitis (heel spurs). Also Achilles’ Tendonitis and referred pain can occur in this area. A common cause of heel pain in active children is Severe’s Disease.

Some of the factors that can contribute to heel pain include:

Increased activity
Structural abnormalities such as flat feet, high arches and leg length inequality
Obesity
Trauma
Improper footwear
Local or systemic disease

At Feetology Podiatry Centre, we can work with you to overcome your heel pain. It is important that you do not delay your treatment as this can increase the time for your foot to return to normal. Our podiatrists will work with you to to formulate a treatment plan to have you back doing the things you love as quickly as possible.
