How Do We Treat Heel Pain?

Many of our patients report that the pain started in the heel on rising in the morning, or after getting up from sitting at the end of the day.

The pain is often ignored and before they know it, it is stopping them from the doing the things that really matter to them.

At Feetology Podiatry Centre, we understand that not all heel pain is the same, and that a personalised approach to treatment is required.

With this in mind, we have many options to choose from to treat heel pain - from Orthotics, Shockwave, exercise prescription, mobilisation, dry needling and getting you in the correct footwear.

So What Is Causing My Heel Pain

There are a few different conditions that lead to heel pain. In adults, the most common cause is plantar fasciitis (heel spurs). Also Achilles’ Tendonitis and referred pain can occur in this area. A common cause of heel pain in active children is Severe’s Disease.

Some of the factors that can contribute to heel pain include:

  • Increased or changed activity levels
  • Structural abnormalities such as flat feet, high arches and leg length inequality
  • Trauma to the foot or other areas of the body
  • Inapropriate footwear

Our Feetologists will work to identify all the factors and build a treatment plan with you to get you on the road to recovery.
